Does anyone know which science fiction writer wrote a story or book while he was on acid? (Title of the book would be pretty cool too.)

Robert Heinlen's "Stranger in a Strange Land" is a good possibility.

Too bad the bible wasn't written on acid...Then it might actually be a decent read!

It was however written years after the fact, by followers many times removed from the source, and edited heavily through the years by anyone and everyone who cared to... Including multiple Kings, Emperors and Popes. So you'd have to be tripping if you even remotely take it as anything other than a fairy tale, and not that great of one. Song of Solomon is a decent read though.

If you had ever eaten any acid you would know that any activity which requires even a small amount of concentration is pretty much un-doable while you're tripping balls.... just getting yourself into bed can be quite a Herculean task. There's no way you could even think about writing a coherent sentence until after you start coming down.

That change right into a stupid plot gadget. The transporter is meant to reassemble count number. this is not meant to regrow organic and organic organisms from DNA. I have an identical grievance for the ST Voyager episode in which Tuvok and Neelix were given mixed into Tuvix.

Phillip K. Dick was a known drug user and many of his works contain drug themes, 'A Scanner Darkly' for example. I imagine there are many more science fiction writers who dabbled in hallucinogenic drugs also.

Hunter S. Thomas isn't science fiction, but he did just about everything (drug wise) & his books are filled with drug refrences-his most famous work is arguably Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas...

Robert Heinlein didn't take illegal drugs so forget him. Like most published writers, he knew that drugs and writing don't mix and he hardly needed them with his intelligence and imagination.

Even alcohol can have a bad effect on writing if its abused.
