It's easy for you to do this, I know I have done the same. I guess it is within you is why you can't let go. You don't understand why you were not good enough for him to be with you and the kids and stay off the drugs. What you could of done and it is not you it is him. He is not ready to settle down and take responsibility and probably never will. You need to get more self esteem about your self and realize that you CAN do better and WILL when it is your time, when you find the RIGHT one. You have to find your self respect and dignity again, and when you do NEVER let anyone take it from you again. Get some therapy and do what you can to finally move on. Don't take him back every time he comes crawling. When he sees you are tired of it and are not going to keep doing it he will either STOP or move on and usually they will move on when they find that they have last their power over you. Good luck.

Beats me.... insecurities?
If a relationship is admiration, respect, passion and trust, there wasn't much left, was there? If he is into drugs and another woman, what is left to love?? The guy betrayed your trust, pronged, another woman, left you and your children, and surly you cannot admire nor respect him in that situation... The whole thing is in the toilet...
What you love is your IMAGE of him, and what that is and who he is now are just not the same.... when you "get" that, you'll see the point... and, hon, a guy who is an addict has always been in a relationship -------- it just has never been with you..
So you have been at least number 2 for awhile. Now that he has another lady, you are number 3 minimally. If there is alcohol, and computer porn in there too, you are now somewhere around the goldfish....
You didn't ask what you should do, but I'll offer it anyway---- a few sessions of counseling might just be the best 2 hours of someone else's time you EVER in your life spent.

I think that in a lot of cases like this there was once a time when everything was going good. It's those thoughts of a beautiful future that keep you loving such a loser. Been there.

No one said you couldn't still love him (as a person). You can only love a MAN that stays and takes care of his family, and swallows that large bowl of selfishness.
