Some tricks that have eased teething woes with my children:
- wet wash cloth thrown in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, feels really good to chew on (put a big bib on first)
- a dose of tylenol or motrin
- Hyland's teething tablets or teething gel - hard to find but worth it! A homeopathic miracle! (can be ordered on drugstore.com)
- a vibrating teething toy - I think we have a few by Safety 1st - found at a local drug store - when they bite it vibrates

Every child develops differently - he could teeth for months before another tooth pops through or he could get a whole crop of chompers in a months time. Good luck finding a way to make him comfortable.

Most children start teething between 4 and 8 months. My son cut his first two teeth at 5 months and within a month he had two more. He will be 12 months next week and now has 11 teeth with one more about to come through. Fever is not considered a part of teething, regardless of what you may have heard. I work for a pediatrician and according to the AAP, teething is not a symptom. If he gets a fever then you might should consider taking him to the doctor.

I had a hard time with my son while he was teething at first. We had a lot of restless nights, and everytime the tooth would come through and he'd get a little better, he would cut another tooth. I used the baby orajel and would give him tylenol at night. It helped, but it was very temporary and still really tough. After a couple of months, it just seemed to get easier. He's not hardly fussy at all when he cuts teeth now. Just hang in there.

Some babies are born with a tooth!! No need to worry, alot of babies start early. Statistics show tho, that if the first come so early, it may take awhile for the rest to start coming through. Some children though will keep teething for months at a time. You never said if he was in pain or not. If so, then the first answer was correct in her answer. Babie biscuits are also good for teething, or a frozen bagel, but make sure he is continually monitored once it starts to thaw. Babies love chewing, so I am surprised he doesn't like the teething ring. Put it in the freezer or dab a flavor of something he likes on it.

Wet a wash cloth and put it in the freezer, when it freezes a little give that to him to chew on. Popcicles are good too. His teeth will come in at different times and no one can predict when that will happen. I suggest you get tylenol for babys some anbesol for his gums, in the "old" days mothers would sometimes rub a bit of whiskey on the baby's gums (a shot is great for mom too LOL) as an anesthetic before anbesol and the other over the counter meds they have for teething now.

My son started teething at 5 months. I rubbed Baby Oragel on his teeth, and gave him Infant Tylenol. There is no way of finding out exactly when the next set of teeth will arrive. If you want to see if he has more teeth coming in soon, rub his gums with your finger, and you should be able to feel it. I wish I could say there was more you can do, but that's about it. It is a painful period, but you both will get through it - good luck!

My babies loved it when I would massage Orajel on their gums. Also, giving them a nipple that has been in the freezer was a big hit. It's hard to tell when teeth will come in, but if they've been sucking on their fingers and drooling a lot, there are probably teeth on the way.

Its normal for infants to get teeth at his age. Try wetting a washcloth and putting it in the freezer to get frozen, then give it to your son. I did that with my son and he loved it more than teething rings. If he likes the frozen washcloth, then make sure to keep several of them in the freezer. That way you never run out of them and he stays happy.

Unfortunately, teeth can come at random times; there is baby oragel which you can put on his gums. The other idea is to give him baby ibuprofen; both are temporary but should help him relax.

my children teethed on cloth. I took a wash cloth and wet it with cool water and let them chew on it . I seemed to help both of them. And make sure his hands are clean if he is going to teeth on them.
