well, Conservatives almost by definition cannot be Fascists.

Fascists are for the following:

1. Gun Control
2. State run medial facilities (Socialized medicine)
3. Support euthanasia
4. Are against organized religion
5. And support military use to stop dissent (Waco)
6. Believe the state is more important than the individual.

WOW, in fact, after reading my list I believe it has more to do with the Democrat Party. Cool.

One is alive and the different isn't. One is approved to legally effect political coverage at the same time as no longer interfering with the lives of alternative voters. One realizes that their ideologies ought to no longer be enforced through political regulations or objectives--the different does no longer. One destroys lives of those they disagree with, and can't savour transformations--the different respects transformations and works very troublesome to maintain human being rights at the same time as scuffling with violations through each and every mechanism accessible lower than regulation. the yank that fails to uphold their duty to different persons, or who interferes with the rights of alternative people in reality is a fascist. they have been the following considering in the previous WWII, and a number of them are in authorities. edit: and they are fairly impressive people.

If I had to compare your two words, conservative and fascist. The best way for me would be to put them in political terms.
Conservatives = right thinking
Fascists = left thinking

"What are some major differences between today's American conservatives, and traditional fascists?"

Very, very little.

"Many different characteristics are attributed to fascism by different scholars, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, authoritarianism, militarism, corporatism, totalitarianism (and thus collectivism), anti-liberalism, and anti-communism."

the importance on certain topics changes due to the changing word we live in.. and the changing issues we need to deal with..

some liberal made up the word neo-conservative and thought they were cool...

i guess theres a difference between conservatives today and liberals today...

conservatives adapt to the changing world they live in, and therefore "change"...

liberals just look away and try to forget everything, wrongly assuming its just going to go away...

Traditional fascists, were technically socialists.

That puts them on the left not the right.

Nazi = National SOCIALIST party.
