Does any one know when they will release the new $1 coin??? Also, I received a Kennedy half in my change the other day, i was surprised, it has been yrs since i got one of those, I thought the govt had stop minting them. Actually I think the gov should emphasis the use of the half dollar rather instead of bringing in a new dollar coin. I think if vending machines were made to accept the 50 cent coin, people would use them more. What do you think?

I think the new presidential coins come out tomorrow, Feb 15. Soon you will be able to get them at your local bank or Ebay. Kennedy half dollars have been made since 1964 and continues to this day. 1970 was the last year that the half dollars contained silver, for circulation that is. They are still made in silver proofs for collectors. As far as dollars, the Sacajawea dollar is still being made, you can get them as change in some vending machines and at the post office stamp machines. They are also available in proofs for collectors. If you are interested in purchasing or just looking, I have Kennedy half rolls listed for sale on Ebay, take a look around, even if you are not signed up you can look as a guest. Click on community, then search for Ebay member mikecatal. Thanks

According to source, circulated '64 Kennedy half dollars in poor to great shape are worth $10 - $16, so an uncirculated one is worth $17 - $19. edit: 1964 Kennedy half dollars in uncirculated "proof" condition , meaning they have a mirror-like finish and never been touch by human hands, can be worth $100 - $900 a piece. Uncirculated proof coins were made specifically for coin collectors and they are much more valuable than uncirculated coins in a roll. Uncirculated coins in a roll can still have scratches and fingerprints on them, proof coins are flawless and have never been touch by anyone unless they were wearing gloves.

For some reason, dollar coins have just never caught the American imagination. For one thing, they have recently been minted in impractical sizes with terribly unflattering images of women...maybe Anna Nichole would be a keeper? I would like to have US dollars that were reliable in the world economy. I really don't care what they look like!
