When I was living in Colorado, I saw a neat contraption for sale - it's a rubber mat with heating coils in it - kind of an electric blanket for your sidewalk (they had one for the driveway as well). They made a LOT of sense :-)

If you live in New York, the answer is very different then it is if you live in Seattle. I live on the west cost so I will tell you what works for me. I use a broom shortly after it starts to snow. It usually snows for a short enough time that little snow builds up, so once I sweep I have no need to shovel. If it melts and then freezes again I use the salt substitute stuff because I believe it is not as hard on the plants and grass

If you're too lazy to shovel it, then the only other way is to just wait two or three more months and the snow will get rid of itself. Of course, in the meantime you will be responsible for anyone walking on the sidewalk which you were too lazy to clear of ice and snow.

Get a cheap electric snow blower. It might cost you around $200, but it doesn't take long for it to pay for itself. Either by saving the costs of having someone else do it or saving your back from shoveling the show the old fashioned way.

The best way to get rid of snow on the sidewalk........
GET SOMEONE ELSE TO SHOVEL IT !
It really is the best, and as the guy said,
"Work fascinates me ! I can watch it for hours !"
Take it from someone who has shovelled snow in Canada for over 50 years.
Good Luck.

purchase some ice-melt (salt) and sprinkle it on the area. Wait awhile and shovel again. practice more beneficial at the same time as the sidewalk is sparkling to stay away from it from occurring (works maximum ideal actual in the previous a snow hurricane).

Shovel, snow blower, ambition, muscle. Your girlfriend or a elderly neighbor or con your poor mom. Or, just leave it and let the city give you a ticket.
Don't think of it as work, think of it as being at the gym and getting a free work out.

I have to say shoveling is the best. You get a workout and you don't have to work with those stupid snowblowers that keep screwing up.

if you have underground heating that is the best to clean up the sidewalk, if not you can shovel and put salt

well using a mixture of CaCl2 because each molecue melts and forms 3molecuels/elements which cause the freezing temp to lower, wither that or get a snowblower, or leafe blower
