So, as my luck turned out, i received what i thought was my ticket into a cal state. i did everything from turning in my SAT scores to my transcripts. then i received a decision saying, "congratulations on your admission and you are enrolled for the 2007-2008 year."
Then i called them to ask them a question and they asked me if i had received my admittance letter. I said yes and they then apologized and said it was a mistake. My luck. I laughed when i heard him say it, because that was it, just my luck.
is this sort of thing common? sending out mistaken acceptance letters?

no, i have never heard of that. I would appeal it. They sent you the letter, they have to do what it says. i have never heard of them mistakingly sending an acceptance letter.

I have heard of that happening only once before and it was just last month. I believe in was a school in South Carolina. Someone in the admissions department mistakenly sent over 2000 people an email discussing being accepted.
Either way, if I were you, I would most definitely fight this situation.

That seems like a horrible trend lately...it just recently happened at UNC Chapel Hill...
All I can say is, (i'm currently waiting for responses from law schools), if that happened to me...there'd be an immediate opening in the admissions office of whatever school it was!

that is HORRIBLE!! i've never heard of that happening, you should fight them on that! that letter should be your ticket in.
