Stanley Clarke (born 30 June 1951) is an American musician and composer known for his innovative and influential work on double bass and bass guitar as well as his numerous film and television scores.
His most famous album is School Days (1976), which, along with Jaco Pastorius's self-titled debut, is held up as one of the greatest bass albums in the history of jazz.

I believe John Entwistle was the greatest bass player ever. John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin Paul McCartney - The Beatles are probably the two closest with his talents.

victor wooten

jaco pastorious

charles mingus (well he played the standup)

you pick the order

everyone's gonna say les claypool (amateurs)

yea ed i have heard him solo. i hate the frog brigade and primus. how can you say he compares? he just a more funky style, he's not nearly as talented. remember what pleases the ears doesn't simply imply the best. why do people just wiki on here, does he not have an opinion, or a way of putting it

I'll cast a vote for Victor Wooten. And for the dude who said Les Claypool is what amateurs will pick: have you ever heard him solo? I rest my case.
