you kinda neglected alot of whats important in a computer other than looks.

how fast is the CPU?
how much RAM?
built-in extras (DVD-burner, CDROM, etc)?
Hard drive space?
and how much did you pay for it?

edit: for whiteknight...knowing the brand doesnt mean you know whats inside of it. you can customize what you put in it too yanno. Also, people make stupid mistakes of thinking brand is everything. If the computers have the same parts they are equivalent comupters. Companies like HP, Dell, IBM, EMachines, just put computers together. They rarely make the parts themselves. The parts come from companies like AMD, Intel, Corsair, Kingston, etc. The only thing you get is maybe a different shell, and more quality control when its put together with a good brand.

HP makes a good computer. I will assume they give you only about 512 MB of RAM. This is "Supposed" to be the minimum for Vista. But, as stated, you really need 1 GB, so in time you may want to drop some more RAM in. 512 MB about $50 +/-, personally I would look at the RAM slots and buy the RAM accordingly to Max out on RAM.
The programs already loaded should be OK. If, you want to add a program like a game, check the system requirements on the box to see if Visa is there. IF, not, write down the web-site and check there for possible upgrades for Vista, before you buy something that not work. Do this with harware also to be sure it compatible with Vista, as in Graphics Card, Sound, etc.

HP is one of the best brand in the world in terms of desktop PC, so I would say it is a good choice ..!!
and try to get at least 1 GB of RAM for Windows Vista ..

Good luck ..!!

If you want to know what the a1719n and what type of hardware then goto www.hp.com/support and look it up then come back and rate it.

yes it is a very nice computer I'll give it a 11 out of 11 and that is very good. enjoy but I hate windows vista for now. i would stick to windows xp for awhile until they get the bugs work out of it.
