TODAY is the good old days. Tomorrow will be BETTER good old days. The past was NOT good old days.
I am 54 years old. When I was a kid;
NO COMPUTERS
NO COLOR TV
TV HAD 3 STATIONS
AM RADIO
AM RADIO HAD THREE STATIONS: 2 rock, 1 country
NO AIR CONDITIONING
NO INDOOR FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS. You ate outside.
NO CELL PHONES
Not even beepers!
Music was on 45's and you played it on a 1-speaker stereo.
New movies; 3 new movies a year. NO SPECIAL EFFECTS.
Mostly westerns.
NO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER WINDOWS. 1 speaker in the dash of your AM RADIO.
NO MEDICAL INSURANCE. When you got sick; you were in trouble. If you got seriously sick, you were DEAD. There were NONE of the cures we have today.
NO INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. Everything was 2-lane roads. If you wanted to go from New York to California, you did it stop and go through town after town.
Do you STILL want the Good Old Days?
I SURE DON'T!!
PS People did not live past 65. Now people are living to age 115.

I agree with the freedom part. As we get older more responsibilities are laid on us and we fall behind societies debt, for the sake of family and love.
The good ol days for me are High School, when I could come and go as I pleased and my biggest worry was how I would find beer for the party on saturday. I think in a sense I had it made.

There is no such thing. In the olden days people got sick and no one knew what to do about it .Our children had to work in coal mines . There was no five day work week, no unemployment insurance. I could go on and on.

Do you know that song "Memories"?
"What's too painful to remember,
We simply choose to forget..."
That's reality. We remember a sweeter time back then because we can't remember the bad stuff.
All times have their good and their bad.
