I don't believe much of what I watch, and only some of what I read. I question everything.
But the "media" in my area of the world--Midwest US--has been unfailingly behind our soldiers, honoring them at every turn. If the populace has turned its back on Bush, as it has, why shouldn't that be reported? (Many Republicans have spoken out against the "Decider".)
"the deal with Iraq"???? It's a war, for heaven's sake! And it IS political!! And I don't think Bush is behaving in a way that reflects the wishes of those who elected him--which was not even 50% of the voters, BTW!!!!
We all wish we knew what was going on....but we surely don't hear the truth from the administration.

I never chose Bush as my president, I've just lived with it. In any case, what does he have to do with killers (other than the tenuous connection that he's sending yet more soldiers to the Middle East to die).
As for whether I believe what the media tells me? I try to follow the "three sources" rule. If you can find the same information from three different sources (and not just sources that are quoting each other, like Fox's stupid "madrassa" smear), then it may well be true. Where else should I get my information if not out of newspapers, on televised news, over the Internet or the radio, etc?

He was re elected, that is true, but that does not give him carte blanche to run things as he sees fit. Hence the congressional elections. If I thought his policies had a shot of working, I would be more supportive. As for believing what the media tells you, there is no Mr. Big telling "the media" what to say. There are many media outlets with a liberal slant, many with a conservative slant, and many others in the middle. The problem is that nobody likes the bearer of bad news, no matter which side they are on. To the right, the media is liberal and always attacking Bush. To the left, the media is right wing and is ignoring his wrongdoing. A reporter can't win.

You have to get your news from as many sources as you have access to. I usually ask my European relatives what the word is on the streets of Europe on one thing or the other. I make sure to listen to the news when I go over there. I watch British news, French news, Spanish News and Italian News when I visit those countries. I don't watch German news since I do not understand that language very well. Here in the USA I also watch Fox News, CNN, rarely MSNBC or PBS (PBS use to be my favorite) Now FOX is my favorite. I also go to European News website.

I recently read on a website(a link about 23's being significant, you know the 23 enigma stuff that is so popular)anyways, it said there are currently 23 media corporations that control all the media we as a global community view. Nice to know that some are probably paid off to publish untruths and who knows if there are any good guys anymore. What a sad, sold out world we live in.

I don't believe anything the media, reports on, they seem to be
they own political party. They don't report the news, they generate
story lines. If you switch channels, the script is the same, verbatim scripts. They offer commentary, opinion , same as story
telling. You have to be real dumb to believe anything, they report.
Tell those people, with all the snow about Global warming. The
stock market , closed at an all time high., The news tells us how
bad the economy is. Don't pay attention to facts, it might confuse
you with the truth. Just listen to those bubble-heads reading from
a teleprompter.

The majority of the mainstream media is severly influnced by the liberal left...their editorial policies reflect this...their idea of "NEWS" and the way they slant it for presentation to the public shows this on a daily basis....for the best clear shot at how we are fed "NEWS" buy a cheap shortwave receiver from Radio SHack or the like, then tune into foreign news broadcasts...they way the news is slanted here is very obvious the first time you hear it from somewhere else.......try it BEFORE you start knocking it....If you believe what you see and hear on TV and radio now,you prob wont believe ehat you hear on SW...but you might get your eyes opened also.....if you arent afraid to hear the truth that is...

Not liberal media. There reports have information that is added for a juicy story, or void of truth.
At least Fox news does really debate both sides. Those that bash the conservative news station must really not have watched a show in it's entirety. If they have, then they are truly blind.
You brought out very valid points, some are just filled with so much hatred for anything conservative that they don't see it.

The media says it is 33 degrees outside, I'm inclined to believe that. When it comes to Iraq, my confidence drops to about 5%. When it comes to any sensationalism my confidence that they are telling the truth falls dramatically. It's like the media has gone over to the Tabloid side forever and are trying to pass it off as news.
