What do you wanna know? It is currently enjoying a rep as one of the hardest schools to get into in CA (not always the case). Located in one of the worst areas in Los Angeles. Yes, you will see a lot of rich kids there, but not everyone there is a spoiled brat. Alumni is VERY loyal, vocal, and helpful to one another (best part about going there IMO).

If you want to go to USC that badly, I would suggest taking some community college courses. They look great to the admissions officers. I know that you are still a sophmore and have a long way to go, so maybe just take one. And then take two in junior year. They look good on transcripts. Also, its a good time to start preparing for the SATs. I also want to go and I have visited it. I found it to be a very nice and pleasant place to just roam around the halls. It isn't very crowded, so you'll probably like it there. Good luck.

I'm an alumnus of USC myself, having journeyed to L.A. from the not-as-far-East state of Ohio. When you attend and graduate from Southern Cal you join a lifelong family who will forever be a source of loyal friends and professional contacts. The education is top-notch, the mens and womens sports are phenomenol, and the undergrad experience is a blast. And don't believe what they say about the neighboorhood - it's an urban city sector, swarming with diversity, typical to most of Los Angeles.

Either way, good luck with the application process!

laura, i applaud your initiative, but you are only a sophomore. wait until you take your SATs and get through your jr and halfway through your sr year before you start to make final decisions. your senior year is a long way from now and you never know what could happen in that time. wait a few more years before registering for classes. in the mean time, take a few visits there if you can just to make sure that is the place for you.
