Sept 16. Too bad Mexico isn't under Spanish rule right now. It would be much better off.

I can never forget that one. It is my wife's birthday and she is Mexican. At midnight when it becomes the 16th of September the president of Mexico gives the oficial cry for independence, and the whole country begins to celebrate.

The first cry for independence was made by a parish priest, Miguel Hidalgo in 1810 who was calling for the people to rise up against the Spanyards.

Cinco De Mayo (May 5th) is not Mexican Independence day as many believe. it is actually the anniversary of the first major victory against, I think it was the french. The day Mexico declared it's Independence from European rule was Sept. 16th. Don't ask me the year. My specialty is WW2 you can ask me the years on that.
