Per the "as long as they come here legally" -- who makes said laws? It does seem unfair that the USA isn't taking in at least as many refugees from Iraq as we're expecting their neighboring countries to handle.
ETA--BTW, Bush agreeing to take in 7000 refugees is one of the first things he's done of which I *approve* in a long time. Mind you, that's 7000 out of 2 to 4 million, and we should also probably be lending a hand to Syria and Jordan, which have taken the brunt of their mass exodus. But it's definitely a start.
