Cheechoo was getting better every year and would probably been a 25-35 goal scorer by himself-but that's why you get a player like Thorton. He's not padding Cheechoo's numbers-he's just allowing his areas of talent to expand and operate freely.

Nope, because Joe is one of the top players with assists, and they both feed Cheechoo goals a lot of the time.

Cheechoo is really dependent on a player like Joe to pass him the puck. He can get into the right positions to shoot the puck, but he needs somone to set up the play for him.
No one is better at that than Joe.

Sure he could but obviously his value is greatly boosted by having such dominate linemates like Marleau and especially Thornton. I wouldn't expect his outrageous goal total from last year to happen again but as long as he plays with Thornton he's going to hover around the 40 goal area. Now without Thornton though I'd say he's a 20-25 goal scorer which is still very much a contributer.

he is not nearly the player thornton makes him. without thorntons passing ability, cheech wouldnt be scoring a lot of goals. i dont think cheech would be as good if he were on another team.

He can, he's a good player, but I don't think he can carry the Sharks like he will have to.
