I assumed paying telstra for a private number, that my number would be kept private. It wasn't, what can i do

Telstra gave my number to one of their 4 "industry partners" who used the number to call me and ask me if I would go back to telstra...in other words, they keep my number private from everyone else but use it to benefit themselves...surely this can't be kosher?
