ummm..what is the question?
Meconium is an unborn baby's poop. If there is some in the amniotic fluid, there are problems with the baby. Sometimes, if it's very serious, they will inhale it and have lung problems.

I'm not 100% on what your question is, but merconium is what a newborn passes during bowel movements, and there's no way to avoid it. By 'staining', do you mean being born with it on them? If so, there's not a thing you can do about it, except let the doctors and nurses clean the baby off quickly and check it's ariways. If the merconium gets into the baby;s lungs, it can cause difficulty breathing.
Over-due babies are more likely to be born with merconium in the fluid than early arrivals, but there's nothing you can do about that, either.
You received an answer about jaundice before, and if your baby's skin has turned a yellow-ish color now, that would be a sign of jaundice. That's not merconium stains, that's when there is too much bilirubin in the babies body, from the liver not functioning properly. It can make a baby very sick, so you would need to have the baby seen by a doctor right away.
I hope this helps a little bit. If you add some additional information, you'd be more likely to get the answers you're looking for.
Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!

If your baby's skin is discolored, maybe the baby has jaundice. Look at the whites of the eyes. If they are yellow call your ped. and make an appointment. Your baby might need extra treatment.
