What's old is new again. Tin ceilings are making a come back as very retro chic. The ceilings are usually 2x2 foot square, and can command $20 and up per piece in the home decorating market. This would be for a standard repeating pattern. If the ceiling is very ornate, the price goes up. Now if it is copper, look out! This is the high priced stuff. And if it's brass, you have gold!
House restoration companies jump at the chance to pick up original old ceilings.
Being from the old school, I think it's a good thing. Enjoy something that not all people have or can afford.

I think they are great. We are finishing our basement and are going with tin ceilings. We do not want to drywall the ceiling because we would not have access to pipes but don't like the look of a regular suspended ceiling so we are doing the tin ceiling with the grid system. It may cost more but it is going to look 100% better than any other ceiling. You can also get the raw tin ceiling tiles that you have to paint. It gives you that great look without the excessive cost.

It must be good, people are paying lots of money for tin ceilings out of old houses and business bldg. Some of them are over 100 years old, and lots made up in the 1880`s and 1890`s.
Most of them have a repeating pattern every 1 Sq ft. or 2 Sq ft.

A tin ceiling, when installed correctly and properly maintained is a definite asset to a house. If it is an original tin ceiling in an old house then it is worth it's weight in gold to leave it in place.

Many years ago you found Tin ceilings in many ceilings, and I never heard anyone complain. It all depends on your taste, and I think they are cool.

We just bought a house that has a tin cealing in the breakfast nook. I really like it, it gives the room a unique look. I'll e-mail you a picture as soon as my son gets off the cell phone.

If it's in good shape it's a good thing, lots of people would kill for something like that. It's a hard look to achieve especially since everything is flat and square these days. Very elegant and classy if you ask me. Iv'e torn many of these down on construstion sites and it breaks my heart every time.
