Could someone recommend a book that gives a thorough, detailed analysis about how to write fiction. One that is replete with techniques, suggestions for prose, and other handy dandy stuff.

Try "On Writing" by Steven King.
Or "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy" by Orson Scott Card.
Or "Writing the Breakout Novel" by Donald Maass.

Or check the library for suggestions. I did a search for "fiction authorship".

Or Nancy Kress has a couple of good books.
