When an attempt was made on Pope John Paul II's life, he said that the reason why he wasn't killed was that "the hand of Our Lady of Fatima" had guided the bullet.
One has to wonder why it wasn't guided to miss him completely.

That's a lot like asking " Wasn't it God's will that I got hit by that bus?" When it was you that stepped in front of it.
Just because the Pope may believe in God doesn't make him bullet proof and you can't take chances with all the crazies out there.

Do you think its airtight? Could the pope suffocate in his little pope car? More importantly could he drive his little pope car underwater?
He needs the car because Neo stopped being one of his secruity gaurds and stopping the bullets from hitting the pope.

Matthew 4:5-7 states:

The Pope likewise uses his God-given common sense and does not put God to the test.
