What's the difference between the right to assemble and the right to petition

In the old days when you petitioned the government, the government paid attention as opposed to now, so in the past it was an important right, it emplied that the government. would address the concerns of the petitioners.

Freedom of assembly, means that groups can come together to discuss issues of mutual interest and the government can't interfere with this process. This right is still valuable as an important right. You can not do this in a totaltarian Government.

Petition is on paper, but assemble is a bunch of people in the same place being angry about something
