Really really shocking measures.

Really, coconutmonkeybank - what other countries could be on there?

Would you really expect if you were rigging this list that you'd include Poland and the Czech Republic and expect them to outshine the US and the UK?

Two comments:

1) Children who have a good relationship with both parents will fare better.

2) Children who are raised with a solid sense of what is right will fare better.

I can't speak for the UK but as far as the US is concerned...when I was a child...60s/70s/ you could play in the street with your friends..and you did...you spent time out doors playing...you didn't have to be afraid of being kidnapped or molested...you skinned your knees and there was no fear of someone getting sued...you didn't eat McDonald's every night..your parents didn't smoke crack or meth..you didn't spend all your time watching TV or playing video games or in chat rooms or IMing your friends...you actually did stuff and interacted with people face to face....I think this messes kids up and doesn't prepare them for the real world...also...as bad as the public schools were when I went...they are so much worse now...and private school is $5k a month and who can afford that..it is as much as college. Kids graduate not knowing how to read and write or do basic math. Classrooms are overcrowded...its a mess. California...one of the largest and I think one of the wealthiest states is like 48th or 49th in education...that is just appalling. Plus not much to look forward to...they learn at an early age that after college they will be in debt about 100k...which in some states would buy a pretty nice house..(not in CA...not even close)

Because wealth has been inculcated as a value beyond anything else. The party of family values has so redistributed wealth in the us &GB to the point that parents must rely on substitutes to nurture so they can just feed their children. Despair has invaded our national psyches with the constant harping on fear an war. We need a return to a simpler way of life, one that makes possible the things that make life better for our young, not just the wealthy.

The study was carefully designed to shock you. Isn't it odd that they only studied 21 countries? And those just happen to include the 19 countries that outrank the US and UK. And they probably carefully chose their criteria to place the US and UK at the bottom too. Don't be such a sucker for world-government propaganda.

The UNICEF report (URL below) sais:

"The U.S. ranks last in health and safety, with the highest rates of relative child poverty and teenage obesity, according to the report. Only 60 percent of U.S. children live with both parents, compared with 90 percent in Greece, the report said."

Do I need to say more? It's the GOP gospel: if you are rich (make lots of profits without caring for real people) you are "blessed", if you are poor you are a lazy drunkard.

The other reason is the hero worship in U.S. (and elsewhere!), those movie heroes who don't believe in "until death may us part" and started the avalanche of divorces.

It's not only in the US and UK.
It's all over planet of apes.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors being expose with time on the creation of living human kind into mankind of intelligent design were all created into artificial intelligence like a desk-top with all those poor kids all living in misery in planet of apes.
So sorry for all of them getting kick on their butts in making a monkey out of their misery in planet of apes.
Hope those men who crowned themselves as the men who would be king look into the mess they created for their own children and living human kind of all tribes of different community born and raised after independence in planet of apes.
The blunders and slip-ups was expose by the mystery of us-911 with living examples in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon,Tak Bai in Thailand, Dafur, and Somalia too with everyone of them getting kick on their butts in planet of apes.

As the report said, it is that the youth don't know how to be happy. I think we have tried so hard to give them everything, that they don't appreciate anything.
