Funny you should ask that. We actually did an experiment in collage on that very subject. There were five of us with five stones each. Of course we, fist had to find a hill with the proper slope and covered with enough moss to make the experiment valid.
We each tried different combinations of things to cove the stones in, oil, grease, cooking oil, fat, water, petroleum jelly, KY Jelly, KoolAid, Pepsi and even Elmer's Glue.
We though we had a chance with things like the grease and petroleum jelly but the gathered more dirt and pebbles than anything and finally just came to a stop.
Also though the glue would pick up the moss, which it did at first but then as it went along it just came back off.
So we did have to finally conclude that the saying "A rolling stone gathers no moss." was completely accurate.
