Shouldn't that be if you 'are retarded'? I've never known anyone make a spectacular recovery - but there again I don't know it all. I just like to think I do.
The answer is simply - people will tell you that you are retarded, perhaps gently, but correcting your English :-)

Yes, they do know they are retarded. And its not funny at all. They are usually, kinder, more innocent and loving individuals than you'll ever meet and like gays, they take abuse off the ignorant, uncaring public. I have friends who work, placing them in jobs so they get life experience, and I've heard of business who won't hire them, "because they aren't attractive, or will scare away business." Many times, they can't even get a job bussing tables because the owners just don't like their "looks." How ignorant is that?
And yes, I've had them tell me they know they're retarded, that they are different. I want to go home and cry when they do that, but you can't, you just hold their hand and tell them how sweet, good or nice they are, just like everyone else and that they should be proud of themselves for trying to make a living on their own and be adults like everyone else.

Most retarded people know they are mentally deficient. The ones to watch out for are those who don't know they are retarded, who pass themselves off as normal.

My first clue, if I was, would be I'd type in all upper case letters except for one lower case "e", and yes it would always be an "e". That's just one of the signs. Next I'd wear my pants over my head and my shoes on my hands.
If you do any of these things you just might be retarded.

Well I would hope someone would tell me if I was so that I would know. I wouldn't want to be oblivious to the fact and act like I was all that and a bag of chips if I was really acting just like Corky on Life Goes On.
