I have a pair of breeding mice, not mated yet, wanted to find out what the best way to euthenize the pups at about 5 days old. We've going to feed the pups to my daughters snake. Buying them at the pet store is running 6-8$ a week and I've looked into bulk buying, but the overall cost was too much with shipping to balance out. I pay .87-$1.29 per fuzzy and the sites I visited for bulk fuzzies averaged .49ea sold in 100 counts only plus nearly $65 shipping. The cheapest way is to raise our own. I want only the most humain way to do this. Live feeding is out for us, our vet advised against it with all the other small animals we have as pets. If this works, we're considering breeding rats for the same purpose.

They are being kept apart except for breeding. Right now my vet is on leave and I'd rather not ask a vet I don't know about this. Yes, I don't now any of you, but your feedback and information is valueable. to me. He'll be back in 2 weeks and I'd like to mate them, if she isn't already from bringing them home in the same box, last Friday.

Not sure where you are located, but there are several sites with much cheaper mice than you are describing.
Try http://www.rodentpro.com the fuzzy mice are only 19 cents each.The total shipping is based on your zip code but it shouldn't be $65.
http://www.americanrodent.com/ has free shipping on orders of $100 or more in certain areas and discounted in others(check their site for your area) Their fuzzies are 35 cents each. (35.00 per hundred, of course, you would have to order several hundred to get the free shipping)

Your vet advised against live feeding so ask your vet which is the best way to kill the fuzzies!! At five days old can mice even see?? Plus once born you need to remove male mouse becaus ehe will eat the babies!! Believe me I know from experience One day they will be there the next minute babies will be gone

Use a a million:2, a million:3+ ratio, so your male could have a number of women human beings. Giving them a wreck to advance their youthful and recovering after beginning will ensure you have extra healthy pinkies. you could continually freeze or sell the extras, so no loss there.

One way is to freeze them, because actually euthanizing them involves a chemical agent that would taint them so they can not be fed to any animal.
You can also use carbon dioxide (dry ice). It will chill them and produce gas that they cannot breath to quickly kill them.

they will just go to sleep , then die
