Not really, though college does help. To be a producer, you have to have resources and a network. Often that involves money, and not necessarily a formal education.

Actually I was researching it for a school assignment, and it said that there was no real formal training, so I you don't have to, but there are so few job openings as a producer, and if you go to college, it will help. And you really get paid a lot if you become a producer...

No, you don't have to go to college, but you'll definitely have to start small. (Sometimes learning on your own, and making your own mistakes is better than 4 years of college, but it depends on the person).

Produce some films for local businesses, or produce some music videos for local bands...to make a name for yourself.

From there you can graduate into bigger and bigger projects...
