For the sake of argument, suppose tomorrow we had:
--no abortion
--prayer in public schools
--no affirmative action or other policies to counteract racism
--cuts in social spending, increases in military spending
--more tax cuts for the wealthy
--no stem cell research
--no gay marriage
--eliminate federal funding of education
If we did this, would America be a happier place in 30 years?

And if I've left out any favorite conservative policies, please add them.

neoconammo, the difference between our examples is that I chose policies conservatives actually say they want. You chose policies that no liberal has ever advocated. Why? Why not ask what America would be like if everyone had decent housing, education, and a secure middle-class job?

Banning abortion wouldn't stop the need for abortion, so we'd still have alot of unwanted pregancies. Prayer in public schools wouldn't be fair for the kids of different faiths. We need some discrimination policies in place to make sure everything is fair-we'd end up back in segregation without it. Cuts in social spending wouldn't alleviate the need for it so we'd have families unable to support their families. Military spending really wouldn't hurt us-it might make us look hostile to other countries. More tax cuts fot the wealthy would continue the polarization between rich and poor, eliminating the middle class. No stem cell research would mean that we are potentially giving up cures to some of our most devasting diseases. No gay marriage would tick off alot of gay people and their supporters, but they'd keep on truckin' and trying to get at least equal rights and benefits with a civil union. Without funding for education, we'd literally have an overwhelming majority of people who are uneducated, can't read, and who are easily controlled (a bad situation concerning the continuance of our freedom). I would not be happy at all to see my country go down like this.

Poor white Americans would be most unhappy. All non-whites would have been rounded up into concentration camps and then deported. Poor white conservatives would suddenly find that conservatism is about maintaining privilege and their privilege dinner plate would go wanting as the rich use laws and the military to ensure that they remain privileged to the detriment of the poor. Of course, there could be a second American Revolution a la the French revolution where the poor would off the rich and then find out they don't know how to run a government nor how to use nuclear weapons. The Chinese would then step in and lo we would have cheap American labor to fuel the Chinese consumer economy.

those who're more desirable hectic have a tendency to fall into conservatism, because its tenets be sure their fears and its narrow ideology demands little self-mirrored image. All blame is directed in the direction of the different (no matter if foreigners or fellow those with differing beliefs) and the conservative human being is certain that as long as he maintains to have self assurance, he himself is a sturdy human being. that's a lot like non secular fundamentalism, and that's no wonder that both many times pass at the same time.

No, in less than 30 years there would be a revolution with the have nots would uprise and kill off all the haves because the republics would implement it so that businesses could pay you $10 a day and force you to work 12 hour days for that $10. It wouldn't take long for that to get old.

I don't think they would stop their way-back machine there, I think they would continue back to a time when labor unions were outlawed and people could be put in prison for debt, slavery was legal, and wealth was presumption of right above any challenge from the peasant class(the rest of us)

No. In fact, it sounds like a lot of the "dystopias" you can read about in modern literature.

yea you are right, but what about the other end of the spectrum? the ultra liberal one? no one goes to prison for crimes against children, people can have sex on the street corner, we have no military or cops, no one can own firearms except the government, Churches must be banned, ETC..
