It seems that everybody here believes that Montana is the answer, and I totally concur.
Montana is the only state that touches Canada, Idaho, and North Dakota.
It is a rather large, sparsely populated state. Its capital city is Helena.

Montana.
With a land area of 145,552 mi² (376,978 km²), the state of Montana is the fourth largest in the United States (after Alaska, Texas, and California). To the north, Montana and Canada share a 545-mile (877 km) portion of the world's longest undefended border. The state borders the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, more provinces than any other state. To the east, the state borders North Dakota and part of South Dakota. To the south is Wyoming and part of South Dakota, and on the west and southwest is Idaho.

The clue is Canada. You (hopefully) can find it easily on any map of North America, or even just of the US, it's that big place to the north. So find that northern border, and move along until you find Idaho, North Dakota, etc. The rest should be easy. But I see someone has given the answer, so once again you've avoided thinking while working on your homework. Isn't modern education wonderful?
