She's an overdramatic person who's doing it to herself on PURPOSE. It's not like she can't stop. She could if she wanted to. But she's always wanted the attention. She's spoiled and childish too. What should I do? Ignore her? I don't know.

Bulimia is just as bad as anorexia

Bulimia is caused by a serious psychological problem. If she is overdramatic and craves attention, these are just symptoms of the same problem. Do not think you can help her by yourself. She needs professional help. Be a friend, but do not be an enabler. If you want to help her, be part of a support group and research to find out the right way to respond to her without enabling her in her illness. If she is bulimic, she is already tending to self-destructive behavior in order to get attention. It would not surprise me if she attempted suicide as well. If she doesn't kill herself, she can still do serious permanent harm. Even if she is just "acting," she may end up killing herself "by accident." That would be a very real death.

Eating disorders are not something someone does on purpose. Think about it: Could you purposely make yourself throw up your meal? Didn't think so.

Eating disorders are psychological illnesses.

Do your friend a favor. Tell someone like her mom or a teacher, or your mom. She may be mad at first but then she'll understand later you did it for the good.

I had an bulimic girlfriend in the sixth grade...she died because i was too stupid to try to stop her. Get help for your friend, its not her fault if she is so overdramatic, its probubly a phycological problum.

I don't think you should ignore her. There are many reasons why girls develop bulimia, and I don't think you should assume that it's just for attention. Attention may have something to do with it, but there may be deeper problems than that. Confront her about her illness, but don't attack her. Tell her you're concerned about her. But most importantly, just be there for her- She needs it right now.

Don't ignore her - if she really is bulimic it's a pretty dangerous thing. You need to get her help. And if she's making it up, the doctors will get to the bottom of it, trust me!

Let Me coin a phrase for You that may come in handy when dealing with your friend. "You can not put brains into a statue". Think about it for a moment. Is it true of Her? Yes/No?
