Download the Yahoo pop-up blocker of course! I have it and never get pop ups (not even the ones I need, sometimes you have to specify which ones arent bad)

You've just opened a big can of worms. Google pop up blocker and the like, will maybe get rid of some of the pop ups but will not cure the problem. Might as well just close your eyes everytime you see a pop up and act like it wasn't there. To fix the problem you need to go at the source and remove the spyware that is causing your pop ups. Unfortunately these days it not an easy task. Try downloading and installing SpyBot S&D (you can get it from download.com) and run a scan. Delete everything it finds. Just one antispyware is not enough. Try and scan your PC with an online Antivirus/Antispyware, like the one at www.trendmicro.com (Housecall free online scanner).
If you want to save yourself a big headache, backup you documents and data to CD or DVD or USB Key and use the discs that came with your pc to do a fresh installation. You can probably fix it without reinstalling with a lot of time and research, but after a system has been infected, you can't trust it anymore.

If ad-aware doesn't solve the problem, you've got some nasty stuff going on. I've used ad-aware for years, and never had a problem with popups.

I might reccomend formatting your hard drive and installing everything fresh. Formatting the drive wipes *everything* from it, leaving a completely blank slate. This is a process I go through about once a year, as maintenance on my computer. The machine runs like brand new every time I reformat.

Your Windows CD should be able to help you through that process.

There are 2 add-ons it sounds as though you aren't using effectively with firefox. If the popups are coming from firefox try using the ad aware add-on along with the noscript add-on. andstart off by only allowing scripts to run from the site you are visitng. After a while of use you shouuld be able to get the hang of what to and not to allow scripts for.
