3x-4y=12
1. To find the x-intercept replace y with zero
3x-4(0)=12
2. Then divide 12 with 3x
3x=12
3. There's your answer
Same goes for y too

This equation defines a plane in IR^3.
When y=0 you find the interception point between this plane and the X-axis intercept:

3x-4(0)=-12
3x=-12
x=-12/3
x=-4

You also can find the Y intercept (by doing x=0):

3(0)-4y=-12
-4y=-12
y=-12/-4
y=3

I would say -4, but I'm not 100% positive.
Y intercept = 3 (I think)
