I use Jivebunny tracks for backing material and look on www.everyhit.com for music ideas. you can search for no1's - top 10 - any permutation in any year or span of years to tell you the chart toppers (and obviously the most popular) tracks of that era. goes back to 1951.

When I want to think of a bunch of songs I haven't heard for awhile, I go to timelife.com, and look at their 80's compilation discs. They have a list of songs for every album (CD).
