You can occasionally skip a period, even on birth control pills. The entire menstrual cycle is a delicate balance of horomones, released in concert at the appropriate times. Birth control pills prevent you from ovulating by convincing your body a pregnancy is in progress, and then decreasing that hormone to trigger your period during the 7 days you don't take your pills. A period should occur then, but due to your own hormone production sometimes this may not always happen. There is a chance you could also be pregnant, so your first step would be to do a pregnancy test to eliminate that possibility. Then you need to revisit your Gyn doctor and have things examined. It may be your needs have changed and your pills need to be changed. In the meantime, since you are not taking your pills, you will likely revert back to your own normal hormonal cycle. You need to take precautions against getting pregnant until you are back on the pill and have taken it for at least one month. Until then, check for pregnancy, and visit your Gyn. Even if you get a period before you see the Gyn, you probably should not start taking those pills again. Wait until you have seen the doctor, and see what he/she has to say.

Are you under any extra stress (aside from this, I mean)? Have you lost a lot of weight recently? Have you started more strenuous exercise recently? Have you been ill recently?
Any of these can cause a woman to skip a period. If you have been sexually active, though, pick up an HPT kit and use it. That's because there is absolutely no such thing as single or a combination of methods of birth control that is 100% effective. And you also need to know that there is such a thing as a false negative and a false positive.
If you don't start your period next week, see your doctor. As stated above, you might be pregnant, or you might also have a problem that absolutely required medical attention.

Um... well, either your pregnant... antibiotics make the pill not work, and anyway, the pill is only 99% effective when used correctly.
Or, you're just skipping a period. If you've recently changed the type of BC you're on, than, your body may take a little while to get used to it.
Or, stress, can make you skip a period.
Or, malnutrition. Anorexics don't get their periods. (not saying you're anorexic, just listing all the reasons i can think of that you might not get your period)
Edit: You should remain on the pill if you're sexually active, because without it, you're still able to get pregnant. -Condoms do break...

well take "the Pill" year round because the pill is designed to make your body believe that you are 3-4 months pregnant so that you cant conceive. if you just take the pill when the period starts the pill cant prevent what has already begun

Edit: Oh, I understand now.
The delay could either be stress or hormones. Your hormones can still be changing at 18. This could cause your periods to go wacky and even skip even though you're on the pill.
Ask your Gyn about this. Perhaps he/she can advise you on what could be going on and advise you on what can be done.

im not an expert on birth control, but stress and severe weight loss (10+? lbs.) can cause you to skip your period.

Relive your stress and take a pregnancy test. They don't cost that much. Don't waist time guessing.
