Does the wood transform over time, increasing it's quality?

Not sure about plywood backed guitars.. but the more expensive Martin's. I know sound good.. Not all Martin's sound great either... I've had many. Some D-28's did not sound that good.. Had to have the braces shaved.. Old Violins also sound better with age. .

I don't think so. I'm no expert but I've had old guitars that sounded great and new guitars that sounded crappy. I think if it's a good quality guitar to begin with, and it's been relatively well taken care of, it'll always sound good. I have an old '64 Epiphone that has hitchiked all over the states and sailed up and down the Pacific coast with me. She sings like a bird!!! :-) The sound quality has improved actually, cuz we've been around and learned stuff. I don't know if it has anything to do with the wood. But like I said I'm no expert. I just have an old, awesome, beat to crap guitar that sounds better every day.
