Now America is fighting to get rid of the Taleban, but weren't they the original ones who set it up in the first place?

Yes the CIA armed the Taliban to fight the Soviet occupation of the day. Many of the weapons they use are of Soviet or American origin.

The U.S. didn't set up the Taliban, which wasn't created until the mid 1990s. We did, however, support Osama bin-Laden and Al-Qaeda in the 80s, because they were fighting against the Soviet Union (i.e., against communism, the big evil of the 70s and 80s). Just like we supported the Hussein-regime in Iraq in the 80s, because they were fighting against Iran (who, at the time, we considered a bigger threat).

George Bush Sr. was one of the biggest backers of the Taliban when he was a Senator. They were fighting the Russians and he was connected with the CIA and was feeding them money and arms.

Do you have a clue what you're talking about? The Taliban didn't come to power until 1996.

It's people like you (and the morons that gave me a thumbs down rating) that make all liberals seem silly. Stop whining about the USA - be glad that the USA is a free country that never supported the Taliban. The entire premise of your question is absurd - the Taliban didn't exist in the 70's/80's... and the US had nothing to do with Afghanistan in the 70's - we started to get involved when the Soviets tried to invade. Yes, we backed some shady characters - but at the time they were not as radical. The reason they became so anti-USA was because we completely abandoned them after they beat the Russians. Then they got pissed at the Americans as well....
Anyway - please use your head, and stop making liberals look stupid. As a proud liberal I am offended by your stupidity.

Well, sure, America made Mohamed the Prophet hundreds of years before there was America. It's one of the mysteries of our modern world that George W. Bush made everything happen in the past, present and future.

Yes we used them to fight the soviets. They turned on us so know we have to get rid of them.

I guess in a way yes (In supporting the fight against the USSR), but what's it matter, people make mistakes and mistakes should be rectified
