If it helps, my Dr. once told me when I had a bad or busy day to take benidrill. 1 if during the day and 2 before bed. There's an ingrediant in it that calms your nerves that's why it makes most people sleepy. After a while I quit getting them as often. It's just a temporarry for over the counter help. Also try the Celenstial Seasonings sleepy times bear tea, it also helps to keep you at a calm.

You are describing a classic panic or anxiety attack. They have pills for that, but unless you're having the attacks multiple times a day, probably no need for that.
If you tend to hyperventilate, get a paper bag and breath into it until your breathing slows down.
I had a friend that eventually went on medication for them. He attempted to handle them with a beer, but that tended to make them worse.
I will have them maybe once every 3 months. Frequently mine develop while i'm sleeping, but not always. Heart racing, panting like I'm running a marathon, my skin blushes and a slight cold sweat. If I started while sleeping, I will leap out of bed, crouched, and looking around like there is someone or something about to attack.
I usually lie down, deep breaths, and work my body through a relaxation technique i picked up somewhere. The technique is to clear your mind and relax all your muscles. It takes tremendous control to relax muscles. You have to think about each muscle, tense it so you know it's there, then relax it and move to the next muscle.
This can be difficult, but learning to do it take full concentration. Your brain becomes busy, too busy to panic.

i would guess panic attacks. i think anxiety would be more of a constant thing (waking up in the night, doing badly at work/school). im not a phsycoligist or anything, but you should probably talk to one. your general doctor can recommend one. they can diagnose you for sure and give you tips on how to relax through panic attacks, or whatever it is that has been bothering you.

It could possibly be anxiety or panic attacks, but I couldn't tell you for sure. The best advice I can possibly give to you is to talk to a doctor- chances are they can help you out a lot if you describe your situation to them. Best wishes,
K

I'd say those are panic attacks. You can control them through breathing exercises. If I were you, I'd go to see a counselor for a little bit, until you get yourself under control.
