I brought it to diagnostic testing and all it said was that there was a misfire in cylinder 2. It was hesitating a lot and the check engine light would go off and on once in a while now its always on and blinks constantly. Today I heard a loud banging like sound like somehting is knocking around. It is not overheating though. It almost seems like an edxhaust issue but I dont know what to do. I am broke and cant afford to pay for diagnosis again. I would just like to know what i am in for. Please help?

If your getting a code for the #2 cyl I suspect that the plug is not firing .This means raw fuel into the exhaust system and the cat is working overtime to burn it off. (that's the smell your getting )Fix it soon or you may burn the cat out Pull the plug and inspect it ( look for fuel on the tip of it ) Also inspect for any cracks . Fords were bad for plug wires and spark plugs so a cheap fix maybe one new plug and a new wire for the #2 cyl . That's what I would try for after that you'll have to take it in for injection test compression test and such . Good luck hope I helped

It could be the catalytic converter.... that is the only thing on the exhaust system that will emit a foul odor..... get your computer scanned with an OBDII scanner at your local auto store.....if the code is an P0420..... it is the cat converter.
