Bottle caps seems like they would be fun, but since you are probably thinking miniature, have you considered pin-back buttons? You can get A LOT of these, and these run the gamut from Disney, to Rock bands, to pictures of celebrities, to beverages, fast food restaurants, super heroes, anime and cartoon characters, horro movies and characters, theme parks, amusement parks, cereals, the list goes on and on, and you can usually get a lot of these for FREE. I have only started my collection, and it is cheap but fun because you can search for a number of things, and run across pins in flea markets, on the Internet, and at restaurants. On a larger scale, collecting comic books and super hero related items is also fun. I collect Pepsi glasses with super heroes, as well as posters and comic books. A lot of people collect action figures. Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and Corgi die cast cars are also very collectible, and people have collected these since the 1950's. PEZ dispensers, twizzle sticks, stickers, and matchbooks are also very collectible, as are marbles and paperweights. There are more, but I think this may give you a few ideas. Good luck.

You could do something cool with that, like make a belt out of collected bottle caps, or maybe glass Coke bottles, they still make those I think.
