I'd recommend taking the batteries out, and hiding it at the back of your closet. Those things are scary. Cute, but scary.

Are you talking about an original Furby, or the new ones? The original ones are cuter and less scary than the new ones.

The original ones respond to pressing their tummy, petting their back, sticking something in their mouth, and covering the light sensor on their forehead (or putting them in the dark, either way). I think there might also be a pressure sensor on the top of their head or something, but I'm not sure. They also respond to being tilted or turned upsidedown, so if it's sleeping you can wake it up accidentally just by moving it. They speak only Furbish at first, and then start to speak English as you play with them more. It comes with a Furbish-English dictionary, or you can check the Wikipedia article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furby

The new Furbies also respond to voice commands. I don't know how that works exactly, but I gather you have to talk to them in Furbish at first, and then they start to understand English after a while.

Furbies can also talk to other Furbies via the IR sensors above their eyes. Original Furbies talk to other original Furbies and original Baby Furbies. New Furbies talk to New Furbies and Baby New Furbies.

I had two at one time. I find them scary. if you turn them on and stand them facing each other, they will talk to each other. At first it is furby language but they slowly start talking in english. Mine began to swear really bad. I was told that they pick up on what you say and then sometimes repeat it. I never swore as bad as they did. Also they have to be fed. Mine came with a paper that told kinda what they were saying so I knew when they needed to be fed. you feed them by sticking your finger in their mouth. They make a "smacking" sound and say "good" or they will say "yum".
If they are not hungry they will make a spitting sound as if they are spitting out food. You are suppose to let them sleep when they go to sleep. When they are ready to sleep they say good night , close their eyes and begin to snore. You will learn more about them as you play with them. Don't forget to turn them off at night because if you don't, they will start talking during the night and scare the crap out of you.

if you bought it new it should have directions with it and tell you how to speak furbish..you have to talk to it in furbish and after a while it starts speaking in english, its fun for a couple hours and then i just wanted to make the damn thing shut up..

i think the older ones must have been better, ive read that they are programed to do all sorts of things that are not listed anywhere..

Depends on what you want to do with it...

I'd say read the instructions, if you have them. Otherwise look for the specific thing you want to do online.

You can IM me if you want me to help with the problem...
