after the switch back to the "old" leather balls, what did the league do with the "new" synthetic ones? and are they still selling them at sporting goods stores because i havent seen any since the switch!?

I would assume that they either trashed them all, or recycled them. I doubt they are still selling them on the shelves at sporting goods stores either. Who would want to play basketball with a ball that the pro's didn't like? Most young kids want to be like the pro's, so if they don't like the balls, then those kids will hate them! I personally would want to play with a basketball that the pro's endorsed, because it just seems "better"(quality, etc.).

They still sell them at my local sporting goods store.

Maybe the NBA sent the balls back to Spaulding and got some of their money back?
