You can use the comic book shop finder on Marvel or Dc websites do an internet search for shops. When I started collecting I was 12 and couldnt drive or get a ride to a comic store so the local grocery store was all I could get to. Unfortunately most dont carry these books anymore. Flea markets, Ebay, and comic cons are a great place but buyer beware some books are not in great condition and need to be exmained closely. You live in Chicago one of the biggest conventions is there. so when it comes around go to it Wizard World Chicago is put on by Wizard Magazine on of the best sources for comic info hope this helps. and Good luck

Just use the comic book locater at the bottom of this page:

http://www.marvelcomics.com

It should give you several stores in your area. Most dedicated comic shops have a good selection of back issues.
