The best way to help your son with this is to tell him to read each sentence out loud twice - once using each verb.

To find the subject in a sentence...

"The boys are trashing the mall." The subject for the verb "trashing" is "boys". The boys are the ones doing the action. Mall would be the direct object.

"When are you buying the house?" YOU is the subject, because YOU are doing the action of buying. House would be the direct object.

Hope this helps you to help your son.

1. recieve - "each" is singular, not plural, even though "winners" is plural.
2. seems
3. are - if it said "A huge group" then the answer would be "is", but right now it is plural.
4. are
5. want - because you have either/or -- that means just one.

1.recieves
2.seems
3.are
4.is
5.wants

It's really 'duh'-english. Use each word in the sentance, and it's whatever sounds 'right'.
