Ive noticed this ever since I was a kid. I dont know if its the film they use or what. Soaps looking different than the look movies and some other tv shows have like say law and order,,while sit coms have a different look than any of them. Does any1 else know what im talking about? Is it different cameras they use?

The tone of every movie and tv show is different. Different genres also have different shooting styles. 1/2 hour sitcoms are all three camera shows where they are fillmed by three different cameras with three different angles at the same time. One hour dramas are all single camera shows where they film the same scene over and over again using different angles. Then there are shows such as ER that are shot using a steady cam, which is a single camera that is basically strapped onto a steady cam operator and he is like a human dolly... I could go on forever about film production... And I work at Warner Bros. in the Studio Tour Dept. so I explain this stuff for a living...
