Scientists have a great deal of evidence leaning in that direction, but no solid proof. Personally, I believe that it is.

That's a tough question, and worth asking.
I don't believe it is genetic. In my opinion, it is both social and psychological.
I believe that homosexuality, like heterosexuality, is a lifestyle choice and a preference.
In other words, I don't believe that people are born homosexual or heterosexual, but rather choose a sexual preference at a certain age.
To my understanding, there isn't a gene that predisposes certain individuals to be either hetero or homosexual. There's definitely an evolutionary instinct among human beings to mate, but the choice/preference of sexual partner is learned and hard-wired in the brain by social and environmental factors.
Of course, most people, from an early age, are conditioned (by parents, media, peers, etc.) to believe that heterosexuality is the norm and the natural way to go, that is probably why the majority is of that group.
Others, however, understand that sexuality is a choice and decide that they would prefer to mate or have a life partner of the same sex.
Now, I'm just an average joe, so I probably don't know what the heck I'm talking about. But that's okay. After all, I'm here to learn as well.

Twin studies provide pretty good evidence that genetics plays a part, but is not the whole story.
Variation in many human traits such as height, intelligence, temperament and many other psychological traits have a genetic component, but in almost no cases is there a one on one relationship between genes and traits.
The most likely thing is that there is no single "gay gene", but people with a particular genetic pattern are more likely to be gay than those without it, depending on a whole lot of environmental factors, such as birth order.

It must be one of the following:
1. Genetic so that you are born straight/gay.
2. Environmental - so that, for instance, in the womb the development of the brain is affected by an environmental factor (ie by the mother's hormones).
3. You become gay due to the influences on you as you develope.
Most gay people i know would opt for 1 or 2, having always known themselves to be gay. Number 3 has no evidence to back it up.
Scientists think it is probably genetic because they are begining to find genetic differences in gay people.

Yes, because I'm gay and I can't change it, I knew I was gay since I felt sexual desire or puberty. I had to be born gay because It's part of me.

no, no it's not!!! for something to be genetic, it has to be in your DNA... i don't believe that the "homosexuality gene" has been discovered yet.

No, it is a choice. Think about it like this- If it was genetic, would the majority (notice I said MAJORITY, not everyone) have had children? It would be physically impossible.
