Ultrasounds are NOT routine. You may not have to have one.
They will probably do a vaginal exam, check your urine, measure your uterus, check for the shape of your pelvis, ask about genetic diseases you may know about, check heart tones, weight you, check temp, and BP. They may repeat some blood work if there are any concerns.

They will review your health history and probably make sure the size is equal to the date that you have said. They should hear a heart beat but probably will not do an ultrasound until you get closer to 20 week as at that point they will get a much better view of the baby, it is hard to determine sex of the baby much before 18 or 18 weeks. Then they will draw some blood for routine labs and give you an opportunity to ask questions .

a lot of first prenatal appointments are not till 9-10 weeks. whether, generally on your first flow to they're going to do a quantitative blood attempt to confirm the being pregnant and thus far it. some places will additionally do a accepted ultrasound at this factor, different places wait till 18 weeks or so. On my first prenatal appointment they took down all of my kinfolk background, did an ultrasound, lab paintings, pap smear, pelvic examination, blood stress, weight, and urine try. in case you're no longer mushy with the OB you're employing you are able to constantly go searching and locate somebody which you're feeling mushy with, via fact whilst it includes you and your little ones well-being you may desire to easily remember to are becoming to be the care you deserve.

At your first visit, expect the doctor to do a breast exam and do a vaginal swab. Eventually they will do an ultrasound and schedule you for another appointment in 4 weeks.
Also expect to pee in a cup. They probably will draw some blood as well.
I'm amazed that they said you should go to your OB/GYN for your pap results. They mail all the results to us, but maybe that's just my doctor.

No, probably not. They will get your family history and obtain blood work. Since they did the pap they won't need it if the hospital is affiliated with your doctor. They usually do the u/s at 22 weeks at the least 18. Sex can be determined at 16, but you should wait the more you wait the more accurate it will be.

You'll get to pee in a cup to test for proteins in your urine. You'll have your blood pressure taken. They may do an ultrasound to get an idea of how the baby is doing, though your major ultrasound won't be until about 20 weeks. They'll do some blood tests and you can also choose to do some genetic screening tests and HIV test.

you waited 16 weeks!!!
I had my ob do ultrasound at 11weeks, then a nuchal tranluncy test at 13 weeks for down syndrome!!
I don't want to alarm you if you are not interested in testing your baby for down syndrome but you have missed that vital window period for that scan!!!(it must be done 11-13weeks of pregnancy as every foetus has exactly the same measurements)
you will not be able to see until approx 18 weeks to see sex of baby.

They usually determine the sex around 18 weeks, so you may need to wait a bit longer.
If this is your first visit, they'll probably take family history, measure your blood pressure, listen to the baby's heartbeat, and measure your belly. They might send you for further testing.

They will do a physical to check the size of your uterus and they will do "fetal heart tones" so you will get to hear your babies heart for the first time! They probably won't do an ultrasound yet unless you are very unsure of your last period.
