Like Cuba and Communist China didn't participate in the 1978 summer olympics, but communist Romania did. So did countries really pout and whine and not participate in certain olympics because of communist/non-communist conflict?

There were no Summer Games in 1978. In 1980 the USA and other Western nations boycotted the Moscow Games because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan ( a lot of good that did us),

So in 1984 the Eastern Block boycotted the Los Angeles games in retaliation.
