The dead of Smith is like the dead of a roach. I don't care not even a bit.

Ah but you see, there's a difference between news and gossip. Troops dying is gritty reality - something people don't want to be confronted with because that would mean they actually have to take an interest in what goes on in the world outside their little home. ANS dying is "hot gossip" - if only because of all the scandals she's been involved in, the recent death of her own son and the fact that her death is rife with rumors about the cause.

The troops dieing hits Americans in a different way, there are fatherless children, sons and daughters dieing everyday and it's painful to watch.

Anna although a real person is somehow no more real in a way then the desperate housewives on Wisteria lane. Her life is a soap opera even in death.

No one could find entertainment in the deaths of men and women sent to war under false pretenses and by all accounts not getting the job done in the way that we thought originally.

CNN has got 24 long hours to fill and they will fill it with Astronauts in diapers on cross country rampages or the death of a sad but "glamorous" persona with slimfast and meth in her fridge.

It is sad, but do you think anyone would tune in to see the fridges of our fallen heroes?

The better question might be "Is the death of one person or one thousan persons more devestating than the deaths of 1 million or 5 million people? Who they are, how they died, does it matter?

We've lost betweeen 3 and 5 times more Americans to crimes perpetrated by illegal aliens than troops lost in Iraq.

We've lost over 160,000 Americans in traffic accidents since the war started. But, sorry, I realize those people's lives didn't matter, at least not according to CNN.

And, in the four years of WWII, we lost 430,000 Americans, and no one seems to be calling for the exhumation and post-humous impeachment of FDR.

Furthermore, on this delightful topic of death, those 430,000 died in less time than we've been in Iraq. Many fought in Germany, Italy, France, Africa and other countries who, like Iraq, did NOT attack the U.S. But we were realistic enough to know they were a threat.

If the media were prohibited from earning a profit (or got slapped with a huge tax for taking things out of context), I believe our comparisons of these threats to health and life would be in a much more accurate perspective.

Why try to find out.. the way I see it the 3,000+ young men and women were led like sheep to the slaughter. Anna Nicol Smith was a victim of The glamor and glitz of the Media ect. The war is
a bit like my ex-husband:what w/the sensless rage. Anna's death was senseless. Whoever bummped her off, If she was bumped off- only wanted money. Perhaps, there's a lesson to be learned here. I hope God helps me understand.

No, but for some reason, the press thinks we're all on the edge of our seats waiting to hear more about people like Paris Hilton, Madonna, Michael Jackson, OJ Simpson, Brittany Spears, Lindsey Lohan and so on and so on......

Maybe we just feel better about ourselves when we read about how the rich and famous have such messed up lives. What I want to know is, who are these people who are buying the tabloids?

I didn't know that Anna Nichol Smith had died. Who is she?

Why did you bring up the 3k soldiers? Is that the total American deaths?

Of course not but (sorry for the but) ... its newsworthy. Ever hear the saying...whatever sells papers? Talk of the war is getting old. Theirs just too many people eating up this story like ice cream.

Sadly......it probably is, which is terrible. But I for one think 3000 + deaths of our American soldiers is much more devastating.

Wolf Blitzer wants to physically inspect the corpse for his program. Pathetic. What's wrong with him? He is worse than Hitler.
