Maybe you would enjoy something like Memoires of a Geisha (Arthur Golden). 'Mr Pye', by Peake, is a good little book. You could try 'Angela's Ashes'.

Any Joseph Heller Book - particularly Catch - 22 and Closing time

I believe we like the same types of genres!
I can't stand reading Star Wars and Lord of the Rings either.
I read Diana Gabaldon's series. It was completely fabulous.
I just recently finished reading a book by Josie Litton called 'Come Back To Me'. Historical romance as well. Her writing style isn't too bad and the love in it is beyond beautiful. Another historical romance author is Elaine Coffman. I was addicted with her books.
Stepping into more present time, Suzanne Brockmann is a great author of contemporary romance. You immediately fall in love with her Navy SEAL heroes. <3
Hope you check them out and enjoy it!

Try and see if you can get a hold of the old Timothy Zhan star wars novels. Zhan was the first licensed star wars novelist and his books were considerably better then most franchise based sci-fi. Although, i was much younger when i read those books so i might be remembering them as being better then they really are.

Oh Darling, you need to come raid my book shelf.
Let's see....
Well, you have to read "Wicked" and "Son of a Witch" if you haven't done so already.
Also, "Barrel Fever" is a great collection of short stories by Dave Sedaris.
Have you read "The Outsiders" by SE Hinton?... another GREAT book.
My last suggestion is anything by Louise Erdrich, but my favorite is "Love Medicine." Its about a native american tribe. I love every book on your list, and this one is a little different, but still incredible.
"All Souls" by Michael Patrick McDonald is also amazing, but I'm a little bias because I grew up in MA. (It takes place in "Southie" an area of Boston)
Happy reading
