It is completely empty. The guys at Autozone gave me 3 quarts or "Automatic Transmission fluid D/M" and said that should be enough if not too much.

Is it too much? Do I add it while the car is running? Do I just pour it into where the dipstick is?

It might be too much. Start with a quart. Use a funnel to put it where the dipstick is. Make sure you have the dipstick removed. Do not do this while the car is running but DO Check It while the care is running. Add as needed till its full.

Cars are all different. Don't trust the guys at autozone. Warm up the car, (5 min or so) then with your car in park or neutral (thedipstick usually says) check the fluid with the car running not turned off. Add one quart at a time. DO NOT over fill.

if it was completely empty put 1 quart then check it. put it in when the car is off but before you check it you need to turn the car on and let it idle for a minute to get it circulated then turn off and check and add more if needed
