When you hit the print screen button it copies the screen to your clipboard.

Then go into a program like Microsoft Word, Excel, Paint, etc and paste it. You can hit control+v or go to the Edit menu and select Paste.

1. Go to the screen that you want to take a picture of, but you can have a program like Paint minimized at the bottom of your screen.
2. Press the Print Scr button.
3. Maximize Paint from the bottom of your screen.
4. Go to Edit and click on Paste (or hit Ctrl+v).

Note: Paint is not the only program that can be opened, and it does not have to be open at the time of taking the screenshot. I just find it easier.

Good luck!

Ok, after you hit print screen, you would open a program like for example, MS Word, and then you just hit Control V, or paste, and then your screen shot will appear.

If you want to make your screen shot a picture file, like bmp, gif, jpg, then open your computer's paint program, and then new, and use Control V or paste and your screenshot should fill in the space, then go to file, then save as, and save your file in the format you want it to be in.

I hope this was helpful.

I've never been able to do it with PrintScrn -- so I hope someone answers your question. If not, you can generally do an adequate job by marking and copying the screen contents and pasting them into Word.

try combinations of shift + printscreen, ctrl + printscreen, alt + printscreen.

The alt + printscreen will copy just the active window to the clipboard.

The shift + printscreen will copy the whole screen to the clipboard.

Once you do that, open paint, and paste (ctrl + v) then do whatever you want.
